Tim Hortons is not the most popular coffee shop anymore?

Canada has a large number of coffee shops so, where do you buy coffee? I remember, when I came to Canada for the first time, many people asked me, “Are you Starbucks lover or Tim Hortons lover?” so I thought Starbucks and Tim Hortons were the popular ones in Canada. Guess which coffee shop is the most popular?

According to Maclean’s Coffee Ranking, Macdonald’s coffee beats both Tim Hortons and Starbucks.

The complete results are below:

What are typical things to do while you are in Canada?

What are typical things to do while you are in Canada?

I believe that there are many international students who have tried many things in Canada.

I’m going to explain what I’ve never done in my country that I have done while being in Canada.

1. Potluck party

In Canada it’s common to have a potluck party.

What exactly is a potluck party?

Potluck dinners are events where the attendees each bring a dish to share.

Often times, guests coordinate with each other so that people do not all bring the same thing!

In Japan, we do have parties at home but, guests don’t bring anything, the host prepares the meal!

2. Greeting with hugs

Especially for Asian countries, we don’t greet with hugs. We just bow or shake hands.

At first I was not used to it, but now I’m comfortable to greet with hugs!

3. Tipping

Canada has a tipping culture.

It is customary to tip approximately 15-20% on the total bill before tax, less for poor service, more for truly exceptional service.

4. Go for coffee breaks to Starbucks

Canadians love coffee a lot.

Each block has at least one Starbucks in Downtown. If there is no Starbucks, there is either a Blenz, Waves, or Tim Horton’s around!

In Japan I don’t often see Starbucks and it’s kind of expensive,

but here in Canada, coffee is cheaper than any other country!
